Day-to-Day Duties
Teach advanced Cad Cam courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Prepare course materials including lab manuals for CNC simulation and CAD/CAM software training. Conduct theory and practical sessions with emphasis on real-world manufacturing challenges.
Develop research proposals aligned with national priorities such as Make in India and Digital India initiatives. Publish findings in UGC-recognized journals and present at national conferences. Supervise M.Tech and B.Tech projects with a focus on innovation and industrial relevance.
Guide doctoral students in Cad Cam-related domains like toolpath optimization and smart manufacturing systems. Evaluate Ph.D. theses and serve on departmental committees for curriculum review. Mentor students for national competitions such as Smart India Hackathon.
Who Can Apply
A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Cad Cam or related areas is mandatory. Post-doctoral research experience will be given preference. Candidates with UGC-NET/JRF or CSIR-NET qualification and five years of teaching/research experience will be considered.
Industrial experience in CAD/CAM implementation and certification in software like CATIA, SolidWorks, or Mastercam will strengthen the application. Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies such as digital twins and IoT in manufacturing is desirable. Proficiency in writing research grant proposals is expected.
Academic Projects
United University encourages collaborative projects with MSME units in Prayagraj and Kanpur. Faculty can apply for SERB, AICTE, or TEQIP grants for Cad Cam research initiatives. Recent projects include automation of traditional foundry processes using CAM tools.
Journal publications in Scopus/WoS indexed outlets are supported through internal funding. The university provides APC waivers for selected publications in Q1 journals. Interdisciplinary projects linking Cad Cam with robotics and materials science are welcome.
Ph.D. Supervision
Guide 2 to 4 Ph.D. scholars simultaneously in Cad Cam domains. Assist students in securing university research assistantships and external fellowships. Organize quarterly progress reviews with industry mentors from the Prayagraj industrial cluster.
Evaluate doctoral theses for originality and industrial applicability. Encourage students to publish in national and international journals before thesis submission. Co-guide scholars with visiting faculty from IITs or NITs when required.
What You Get
A consolidated monthly salary of Rs.60,000 to Rs.90,000 as per UGC norms for Professor grade. Additional research grants up to Rs.5,00,000 per project are available through university and external agencies.
