About This Role

Day-To-Day Duties
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Geotechnical Engineering, including Soil Mechanics, Foundation Design, and Ground Improvement Techniques. Develop curriculum modules aligned with global standards and local industry needs in Prayagraj and surrounding regions.
Publish original research in peer-reviewed journals with impact factors above 1.5, maintaining United University’s reputation in geotechnical research. Collaborate with national labs and international universities for joint publications.
Guide Ph.D. scholars in their thesis work, ensuring timely progress and adherence to UGC norms for doctoral research. Supervise laboratory experiments and field studies conducted at the university’s geotechnical testing facility.
Lead sponsored research projects funded by agencies such as DST, SERB, or private sector partners. Present findings at national and international conferences, including those organized by the Indian Geotechnical Society.
Who Can Apply
A Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field is mandatory for the Professor position. Post-doctoral research experience is preferred and will be given preference during selection.
Candidates must have cleared UGC-NET with JRF or CSIR-NET with JRF in Civil Engineering. Minimum 5 years of teaching and research experience in a recognized university or deemed university is required.
Active involvement in professional bodies such as the Indian Geotechnical Society or International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering is desirable.

You will serve as a member or chair on Doctoral Research Committees for external scholars from other universities. Regular progress reviews and pre-submission seminars are mandatory as per UGC regulations.
Salary and Benefits
The monthly salary for the Professor position ranges from Rs.60,000 to Rs.90,000 as per UGC norms and the 7th Pay Commission. Additional research grants are available for approved projects, with a ceiling of Rs.5,00,000 per project.
United University provides furnished accommodation on campus or a house rent allowance of Rs.12,000 per month. Medical reimbursement up to Rs.1,50,000 per year is available for the employee and dependents.
Faculty members receive an annual contingency grant of Rs.50,000 for books, software licenses, and conference travel within India. Professional development support is provided for attending short-term courses or workshops abroad.
