Job Overview
United University’s Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is expanding its Power Electronics research cluster in Prayagraj. Key Responsibilities
Teach advanced courses in Power Electronics, including converter topologies, control techniques, and grid-interactive inverters. Design and deliver lectures, lab experiments, and project supervision for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Mentor final-year B.Tech and M.Tech scholars in Power Electronics dissertation work.
Lead sponsored research initiatives in wide-bandgap devices, digital control of power converters, or electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Publish findings in IEEE, Elsevier, and Springer journals. Present research outcomes at national and international conferences in India and abroad.
Guide doctoral students in their Ph.D. research under the Power Electronics specialization. Serve on thesis evaluation committees for external scholars at other universities. Collaborate with industry to translate lab prototypes into deployable solutions for local manufacturing units.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely allied field from an Institute of National Importance or a UGC-recognized university. A minimum of six years of teaching and research experience in Power Electronics is required, with at least three years at the Associate Professor level or equivalent in industry R&D.
Preference will be given to candidates with post-doctoral research experience or industry collaborations in power semiconductor devices or renewable energy systems. UGC-NET with JRF qualification is mandatory unless exempted under UGC norms.
Academic Projects
United University invites applications for Power Electronics faculty to participate in ongoing DST-SERB projects on GaN-based DC-DC converters for solar applications. Opportunities exist to lead new proposals under the IMPRINT or Uchhatar Avishkar Yojana schemes targeting smart grid technologies.
Faculty will have access to a modern Power Electronics lab equipped with SiC MOSFET modules, dSPACE controllers, and PV emulators. Seed grants up to Rs.5 lakh per project are available for preliminary studies, with larger grants for multi-institution collaborations.
Collaborations with CSIR-CEERI, IITs, and local industries such as Crompton Greaves and Havells India are encouraged for joint publications and technology transfer.
Ph.D. Supervision
The successful candidate will supervise 3-5 doctoral students in topics such as resonant converters, digital twin modeling of power systems, or AI-driven fault detection in converters. Thesis evaluation duties will include serving as an external examiner for Ph.D. vivas at other universities.
Faculty members are expected to maintain an annual average of two Scopus-indexed publications and guide at least one M.Tech thesis per semester. Participation in doctoral consortia and workshops is part of the academic engagement.
