Role Summary
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at United University is seeking a Professor of Software Engineering to lead academic programs and research initiatives. Publish regularly in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, maintaining United University’s strong citation profile. Present research findings at national and international conferences, including those organized by IEEE and ACM in India.
Guide doctoral students through their thesis work, from proposal defense to final submission. Serve on academic committees for curriculum design, accreditation, and research grant evaluations. Collaborate with industry partners to define real-world problem statements for student projects and faculty research.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field from an institution recognized by UGC. Post-doctoral research experience is highly desirable. For candidates without a Ph.D., UGC-NET with JRF qualification is acceptable only if the Ph.D. is completed within two years of appointment, as per UGC norms.
Minimum of four years of teaching experience at the postgraduate level, including supervising M.Tech dissertations and guiding research scholars. Prior experience in securing external research grants from agencies like SERB, DST, or industry partners will be preferred.
Academic Projects
United University encourages interdisciplinary and collaborative projects in software engineering. Faculty members are supported in applying for grants from national funding bodies such as SERB, DST, and MeitY. Recent projects include AI-based defect prediction tools and blockchain applications for supply chain management, both involving student researchers and industry mentors.
The department maintains strong publication output in journals like IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering and ACM Computing Surveys. Faculty members are expected to contribute to at least two Scopus-indexed publications annually and mentor students in co-authoring research papers.
Ph.D. Supervision
As a Professor at United University, you will supervise Ph.D. scholars in their research journey, from topic selection to thesis defense. You will serve as a member or chair of doctoral committees, ensuring rigorous evaluation and timely progress. Experience in guiding at least two Ph.D. students to completion is required.
Regular thesis evaluations and viva voce examinations are conducted in alignment with UGC guidelines. Faculty are also expected to review doctoral theses from other institutions as part of academic exchange programs.
