About Prom High School | Howrah

Prom High School opened its doors in 2006 on the bustling stretch of Salkia, right in the heart of Bally Jagachha, Howrah. Mr K.K. Malhotra, a teacher who grew up in the neighbourhood, imagined a place where children from every lane of the city could find a steady education without having to travel far. Over the years the school has become a familiar landmark; many families have watched their first‑borns start in pre‑nursery and later return as alumni for their own children. Though we are relatively young compared to some historic institutions, the sense that the school belongs to the community feels as deep as any century‑old college.

Our guiding principle is simple: every child should feel welcome and be given a fair chance to learn. We do not ask anyone to fit a particular mold; whether a student comes from a modest household, a business family, or a migrant background, the doors are open. The school regularly participates in local festivals, organises clean‑up drives along the Hooghly banks, and supports nearby NGOs with volunteer tutoring. In return, the neighbourhood offers us its trust, its encouragement, and a steady stream of enthusiastic learners who keep the campus lively.

In the classroom we focus on understanding rather than rote memorisation. Teachers, many of whom have spent more than a decade at Prom, blend textbook concepts with real‑world examples, encouraging questions and small group discussions. Modern labs for physics, chemistry and biology, a well‑stocked library and projector‑equipped rooms give students the tools they need
