About This Role
The TGT English Teacher in Howrah, West Bengal will teach English to middle and secondary sections under the State Board of West Bengal. The role involves designing differentiated lesson plans aligned with board syllabi and integrating language skills through project-based learning. Teachers are expected to mentor students for inter-school elocution and creative writing competitions.
What You Will Do
Plan and deliver engaging English lessons using storytelling, drama, and multimedia tools to enhance listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
Assess student progress through regular formative tasks, writing portfolios, and board-aligned mock tests.
Organize weekly literary activities such as book reviews, poetry recitation, and grammar clinics in Bally Jagachha.
Collaborate with subject heads to revise and enrich the English curriculum with contemporary texts and digital resources.
Conduct remedial sessions for students needing additional support in comprehension and composition.
Lead a classroom library corner promoting reading for pleasure among students in Howrah.
Attend monthly subject-specific professional development sessions at the school campus.
Guide students in preparing for inter-school English Olympiads and essay writing contests.
Required Qualifications
Postgraduate degree in English with minimum 55% marks from a recognized university.
B.Ed or equivalent from NCTE-recognized institution.
Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in English at secondary level.
Proficiency in designing question papers and rubrics aligned with State Board patterns.
Experience in organizing literary events or English language clubs is preferred.
Knowledge of digital tools for English teaching (Kahoot, Nearpod, Canva) is an added advantage.
