About This Role
Narayana School is building a senior English department at its Amherst Street campus in Kolkata. This PGT English Teacher role carries full ownership of curriculum design, pedagogy, and board-exam outcomes for Classes XI–XII. The position also includes mentoring junior English staff and coordinating department-level initiatives to lift overall academic performance. Key Responsibilities
Own the English curriculum for Classes XI–XII, aligning it with CBSE/ICSE standards and Narayana School’s internal benchmarks. Prepare term-wise lesson plans, sample papers, and board-oriented mock tests that drive consistent high scores in final examinations. Curate supplementary reading lists, grammar drills, and writing modules to strengthen student expression and analytical skills.
Mentor newly joined English teachers through classroom observations, feedback sessions, and resource sharing. Guide junior staff on lesson delivery, assessment design, and student counseling techniques to maintain departmental quality. Collaborate with subject heads across disciplines to integrate cross-curricular projects and language enrichment activities.
Track and analyze student performance data, identifying weak areas in comprehension, writing, and literature. Implement targeted interventions—remedial classes, writing workshops, or literature circles—to improve scores and confidence. Represent the English department in academic forums, parent-teacher meetings, and school events to reinforce the subject’s value.
Who Can Apply
Post-graduate in English with a B.Ed degree and minimum five years of full-time English teaching experience in senior secondary classes. NET or SET qualified candidates will receive preference during shortlisting. Fluency in English and Bengali is essential for smooth communication with students and parents in Kolkata’s multilingual environment.
