Role Summary
As a Psychological Counsellor at Narayana School, your primary responsibility will be to provide emotional support and guidance to our students, helping them navigate the challenges of growing up. You will be an integral part of our school's leadership team, working closely with our administrators to develop and implement policies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct individual and group counselling sessions with students, providing emotional support and guidance to help them overcome academic, social, and personal challenges.
2. Develop and implement programmes to promote mental health awareness, stress management, and conflict resolution among students and staff.
3. Collaborate with teachers to identify students who may require additional support and develop strategies to address their needs.
4. Provide support to students who are experiencing bullying, harassment, or other forms of social exclusion.
5. Conduct risk assessments and develop plans to prevent and respond to crises, such as suicidal behaviour or self-harm.
6. Maintain accurate records of student interactions, including counselling sessions and incidents.
7. Develop and maintain relationships with external organisations and professionals to provide additional support services to our students.
8. Participate in staff training and professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices in child psychology and education.
Required Qualifications
* Postgraduate degree in Psychology or a related field (M.A., M.Sc., M.Phil., or Ph.D.)
* Certification in Counselling or a related field (e.g., B.Ed., D.El.Ed., NET, SET)
* Experience working with children and young people in a school or educational setting (minimum 3 years)
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
* Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
