About Disha Iconic Public School

When I first stepped onto the plot beside the historic Ganges in Murshidabad, I saw more than a vacant lot; I saw a place where families could send their children to learn, grow, and contribute to the town’s future. Disha Iconic Public School was born out of that vision, a modest building that has grown into a campus where the rhythm of the day is marked by the sound of school bells, the chatter of students, and the occasional call of a street vendor outside the playground. As the founder and now principal, I have watched the school evolve from a handful of eager learners to a thriving community of over six hundred students, each bringing their own story and hope.

Our school is rooted in the belief that education should be relevant to the lives of the children it serves. We welcome students from every corner of Murshidabad—whether they come from the bustling market lanes of the old town or the quieter villages on the outskirts. The WBBSE board guides our curriculum, but we adapt it to reflect the local culture, language, and the practical challenges our students will face. From a solid grounding in Bengali, mathematics, and science, we weave in projects that explore the region’s rich history, the river’s ecology, and the skills needed for tomorrow’s jobs.

At Disha Iconic Public School, learning is not confined to textbooks. Our classrooms are equipped with smart boards, yet we also make time for hands‑on experiments in the laboratory, debates in the assembly hall, and sports on the field that runs parallel to the old railway line. Teachers are encouraged to know each child beyond the report card, and parents are invited to share their insights during regular community meetings. The result is an environment where a student can master algebra, compose a poem about the Sundarbans, and lead a cricket team with equal confidence.

Looking ahead, my aim is simple: to keep the school a place where every child from Murshidabad can discover his or her strengths and leave with the tools to pursue a meaningful life. We do not claim to be perfect, but we are committed to learning, improving, and staying true to the promise we made when we first opened our doors—education that matters to the people who live here.
