Job Description
PRT Music Teacher Job in Nadia, West Bengal | School Recruitment
Senior Music Department Role
Kinder Bloom is looking for a PRT Music Teacher who can shape the school’s music programme in Hanskhali. This is a senior position with scope to lead the department, mentor younger teachers, and drive consistent board results. The role sits within the primary wing but carries department-level accountability for curriculum design, assessment, and student performances across grades.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver a structured Music syllabus aligned with West Bengal Board expectations for Classes I to V. Create term-wise lesson plans that integrate vocal, instrumental, and rhythmic activities suited to young learners in rural Nadia settings. Maintain a balanced repertoire of Bengali folk, Rabindra Sangeet, and contemporary pieces to keep students engaged.
Assess student progress through periodic practical tests, notebook checks, and end-term examinations. Generate simple rubrics that parents can understand and share with the primary coordinator every month. Prepare learners for inter-school competitions and zonal festivals organised by the Nadia Zilla School Sports & Cultural Association.
Mentor junior PRT teachers and music assistants by modelling effective classroom management and lesson pacing. Conduct bi-weekly sharing sessions where teachers discuss student challenges and refine teaching strategies. Collaborate with the art and physical education teams to integrate music with school assemblies and annual functions.
Curate and maintain the music room inventory—buy new instruments, repair harmoniums, and organise storage. Keep a digital log of all purchases and stock levels for audits by the accounts team. Liaise with external music tutors for after-school enrichment programmes on tabla or esraj.
Eligibility Criteria
Graduate in Music from a recognised university with a minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience in primary schools. B.Ed or D.El.Ed is mandatory; candidates without these qualifications need not apply. TET/CTET is preferred but not compulsory for this position.
Fluency in Bengali and English is necessary to communicate with students, parents, and district-level officials. Basic familiarity with Hindustani or Rabindra Sangeet pedagogy is expected. Prior experience with board-affiliated schools in West Bengal will be considered during shortlisting.
Career Opportunities
Kinder Bloom offers a clear growth path for senior teachers who demonstrate leadership in music education. Successful incumbents can move into department head roles within two to three years. The school sponsors participation in state-level music workshops and leadership training programmes conducted by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.
Senior teachers may also apply for vice-principal positions after five years, subject to vacancy and performance review. The management encourages teachers to pursue higher qualifications like M.Ed or NET while continuing full-time duties. Internal candidates receive preference for funded conference travel to Delhi or Kolkata music seminars.
Perks and Pay
The monthly salary for this full-time position ranges from Rs.10,000 to Rs.15,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Kinder Bloom provides a provident fund contribution and reimburses travel costs for official school trips within Nadia district. Staff are eligible for festival bonuses and subsidised mid-day meals during extended rehearsal days.
Additional benefits include free access to the school’s music resource library and subsidised instrument rentals for personal use. Teachers receive an annual leave entitlement of 20 days plus public holidays as per West Bengal government norms. On-site accommodation is not provided, but the school assists with local rental references in Hanskhali.
