ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - Operating Systems in Guhwati, Assam | University Recruitment
Role Summary
The Assam Royal Global University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Operating Systems. Day-to-Day Duties
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Operating Systems, including system architecture, process management, memory management, and file systems. Prepare detailed lecture notes, laboratory assignments, and project guidelines aligned with the latest syllabus revisions by UGC and AICTE. Conduct theory and lab sessions using modern tools like QEMU, Linux kernel modules, and system call tracing utilities.
Engage in research aligned with the department’s focus areas, such as lightweight kernels for embedded systems, energy-efficient scheduling, or secure operating environments for IoT. Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus or Web of Science, and present papers at national and international conferences like IEEE COMPSAC or ACM SAC.
Contribute to funded research projects through grant writing and execution. The Assam Royal Global University supports collaborative initiatives with DRDO labs in Guwahati and startups in the Assam Startup Policy ecosystem. Supervise final-year B.Tech projects and M.Tech dissertations in operating systems design and implementation.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must hold a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field with a specialization in Operating Systems. Candidates without a PhD may apply if they have qualified UGC-NET with JRF or CSIR-NET with JRF in Computer Science. A post-doctoral fellowship or industry experience in systems programming is highly desirable. Candidates with teaching experience in operating systems at the university level will be preferred.
Research & Publications
The Assam Royal Global University encourages faculty to lead research groups focused on next-generation operating systems. Opportunities exist to collaborate with NIT Silchar, IIT Guwahati, and industry partners such as Tata Consultancy Services and local IT firms in Guwahati. Research funding is available through UGC’s Minor Research Project scheme and DST’s INSPIRE Faculty program.
Faculty are expected to publish at least two research papers per year in Scopus/WoS indexed journals such as IEEE Transactions on Computers, ACM Transactions on Embedded Computing Systems, or Journal of Systems Architecture. The university provides financial support for open-access publication fees and conference travel within India.
Doctoral Guidance
Guide doctoral students enrolled in the PhD program in Computer Science at The Assam Royal Global University. Assist in defining research problems in operating systems, conducting literature reviews, and designing experimental frameworks. Serve as a member or chair on doctoral advisory committees and participate in thesis evaluation panels for external universities.
What You Get
