PROFESSOR - Distributed Systems in Guhwati, Assam | University Recruitment
Role Summary
The Assam Royal Global University invites applications for the position of Professor of Distributed Systems. Key Responsibilities
Teach advanced courses such as Distributed Algorithms, Cloud Computing, and Service-Oriented Architectures at postgraduate and doctoral levels. Develop curricula aligned with emerging trends in microservices, serverless platforms, and blockchain-based distributed ledgers. Supervise final-year B.Tech projects and M.Tech dissertations focused on load balancing, replication, and Byzantine fault tolerance.
Lead research groups investigating next-generation distributed file systems and cross-cloud deployment strategies. Publish findings in Scopus-indexed journals and present at top-tier conferences like ICDCS and ICDCN. Secure external funding from SERB, MeitY, and industry partners for multi-year projects on energy-efficient data centers.
Guide doctoral students from proposal stage to thesis submission, ensuring original contributions in areas such as gossip protocols, vector clocks, and distributed transaction models. Serve on Ph.D. review committees at The Assam Royal Global University and external universities. Evaluate theses submitted by scholars from IITs and NITs under MoU arrangements.
Eligibility Criteria
A Ph.D. in Computer Science or Information Technology with a specialization in Distributed Systems is mandatory. Five years of post-Ph.D. teaching and research experience in reputed universities or R&D labs is required. Candidates with post-doctoral stints at institutions like IISc Bangalore or foreign universities are preferred.
UGC-NET with JRF or CSIR-NET qualification is desirable if Ph.D. is not completed. Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Rust, or Erlang and tools like Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, and Apache Kafka is necessary. Familiarity with Indian research funding agencies and their proposal cycles is an advantage.
Academic Projects
Collaborate with DST-funded projects on smart city middleware and blockchain-based land records. Partner with startups incubated at The Assam Royal Global University’s Technology Business Incubator for pilot deployments.
