Instruction Approach
In this role, the instruction approach refers to how the Transport Incharge guides drivers and attendants. You will implement a protocol based on positive reinforcement and clear, inclusive communication. This involves instructing transport staff on how to support students with different learning or physical needs, ensuring that every staff member uses respectful language and remains patient and accommodating at all times.
Bus Environment
We view the school bus as a mobile extension of our inclusive classroom. The Transport Incharge is responsible for maintaining a bus environment that is safe, welcoming, and free from discrimination. This includes overseeing seating arrangements that accommodate students with mobility aids and ensuring that the atmosphere on every vehicle is quiet, organized, and supportive of students who may have sensory sensitivities.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and optimize transport routes to ensure maximum safety and minimum travel time for all students.
Supervise a team of drivers and attendants, providing regular training on inclusive behavior and sensitivity towards diverse student populations.
Ensure all school vehicles are equipped with necessary safety features and accessibility tools for students with disabilities.
Serve as the primary liaison between parents and the school regarding transport matters, practicing empathetic and transparent communication.
Monitor and address any instances of bullying or exclusion on school buses to maintain a strictly inclusive environment.
Conduct regular audits of transport operations to ensure compliance with school safety standards and equal opportunity policies.
Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualification: Must be a Graduate in any discipline.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in transport coordination or logistics management, preferably within an educational setting.
TET Requirement: None.
Skills: Strong organizational skills and a deep commitment to social inclusion and student welfare.
Communication: Proficiency in English and local languages to effectively interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
