Science (PRT) Vacancy in Patel Nagar, West Delhi, Delhi
Tegh Bahadur 3rd Centenary Public School
Job Description
About This Role
Tegh Bahadur 3rd Centenary Public School in Patel Nagar is looking for a PRT Science Teacher to shape the scientific curiosity of young learners in West Delhi. You will work with students in Grades 1 to 5, helping them explore basic science concepts through interactive lessons and hands-on activities. Your role will directly influence how children in this community view science as a subject of wonder, not fear.
Your Students
The students at Tegh Bahadur 3rd Centenary Public School come from diverse backgrounds across Patel Nagar and nearby areas. Many are first-generation learners who need encouragement to ask questions and participate actively. Your classroom will be a space where curiosity is celebrated, and even simple experiments can spark a lifelong interest in science.
Day-to-Day Duties
Prepare age-appropriate science lessons that connect textbook concepts to everyday life, such as weather changes or plant growth in local parks. Use worksheets, flashcards, and small group activities to reinforce learning for young minds.
Organize simple classroom demonstrations with everyday materials like magnets, water, and plants to make abstract ideas tangible for 6-10 year olds. Encourage students to predict outcomes before each experiment to build critical thinking.
Plan monthly science-themed activities or mini fairs where students can present projects in Hindi or English, depending on their comfort level. Involve parents by sharing photos or short videos of these events to keep them engaged.
Conduct regular formative assessments through oral quizzes, drawing-based responses, or one-word answers to track progress without formal tests. Use this data to adjust your teaching methods for better understanding.
Maintain clean, safe classroom setups for science activities, ensuring materials like seeds, thermometers, or small magnets are stored properly. Report any maintenance needs to the school coordinator immediately.
Communicate openly with parents during PTMs or through WhatsApp groups, sharing their child’s progress in science with simple, jargon-free updates. Address concerns about homework or participation promptly.
Collaborate with other PRT teachers to align science lessons with ongoing themes, such as seasons or festivals, to make learning more relatable.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Science (B.Sc) or a postgraduate degree in Science (M.Sc) with a minimum of 50% marks. Bachelor’s in Education (B.Ed) or Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) is mandatory.
At least 2 years of experience teaching science to primary students in a similar school environment. Familiarity with Delhi’s academic expectations and local student needs is a plus.
Skills We Value
Patience to explain concepts multiple times using stories, examples, or visuals until every student grasps the idea. Ability to manage a lively classroom where students are eager to participate but sometimes distracted.
Strong communication skills in Hindi and English to explain science in simple terms and interact confidently with parents. Creativity to design low-cost experiments using items found at home or in the neighborhood.
Basic digital skills to prepare soft copies of worksheets or use simple apps for interactive learning when needed.
Perks and Pay
This full-time position offers a salary between Rs.20,000 and Rs.30,000 per month, based on qualifications and experience. Tegh Bahadur 3rd Centenary Public School also provides a supportive work environment with access to teaching resources and professional development opportunities.
