Role Responsibilities
Teach fundamental music theory, including scales, rhythm, and basic notation, using age-appropriate methods. Conduct weekly music classes, ensuring interactive lessons that engage students in singing, playing simple instruments like the tabla or harmonium, and composing simple melodies. Organize school music festivals and cultural events, encouraging student participation in performances. Prepare and deliver lesson plans aligned with the school’s curriculum while adapting teaching styles to meet diverse learning needs. Collaborate with other teachers to integrate music into broader academic activities, such as storytelling or dance workshops. Maintain a classroom that is well-equipped with instruments, sheet music, and audio-visual aids to support learning. Attend parent-teacher meetings to discuss student progress in music and address any challenges.
Eligibility
Hold a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) with a passion for music pedagogy. Possess a graduate degree in music or a related field, though not mandatory. Two years of teaching experience, preferably in a school setting, is essential. While TET/CTET certification is not strictly required, a background in music education or experience with young learners will be highly valued. Familiarity with Indian classical and folk music traditions is a plus for shaping students’ cultural awareness.
