Grizzly Vidyalaya is looking for an experienced ACCOUNTANT to lead the finance and accounts wing in Kodarma. This ACCOUNTANT Job in Kodarma, Jharkhand will manage day-to-day financial operations and guide leadership on fiscal decisions. The role demands hands-on oversight of school funds, timely reporting, and compliance with local and central norms.
Key Responsibilities
Process all fee collections, vendor payments, and staff salaries through the school’s ERP system. Ensure every transaction is recorded with supporting vouchers and receipts for audits. Regularly reconcile bank statements with the school’s ledgers to prevent discrepancies.
Prepare monthly financial statements including income-expenditure reports and balance sheets. Present these to the school management for informed decision-making on budgets and resource allocation. Work closely with the principal to align spending with academic priorities.
Oversee the work of junior account staff, assign daily tasks, and review their entries for accuracy. Conduct surprise cash counts in the finance office to maintain transparency and deter misuse. Train non-finance staff on basic expense documentation to reduce errors.
Handle all statutory compliances such as GST filings, TDS deductions, and provident fund submissions. Coordinate with auditors during internal and external reviews without last-minute rushes. Keep abreast of changes in school fee regulations and fee structures in Jharkhand.
Key in all petty cash vouchers, imprest accounts, and advance requests with proper approvals. Ensure petty cash floats are replenished on time and not allowed to run dry. Monitor daily cash balances to avoid shortfalls during fee collection peaks.
Maintain fixed asset registers, depreciation schedules, and insurance records for school property. Conduct quarterly physical verifications of furniture, computers, and lab equipment. Report any missing or damaged items to the administration for action.
Liaise with banks for opening new accounts, updating signatories, and resolving cheque or e-payment failures. Negotiate better interest rates for fixed deposits of surplus funds to generate additional income. Keep the principal informed of any new banking products suitable for school funds.
Prepare detailed audit reports after each internal and external audit. Implement corrective actions pointed out by auditors within the stipulated timelines. Store all financial records in both physical and digital formats as per statutory retention rules.
Required Qualifications
Postgraduate in Commerce or equivalent with at least three years of full-time experience in school or college accounting. Prior work in Jharkhand’s education sector is preferred due to familiarity with local fee norms and audit cycles.
Fluency in Hindi and English is necessary for communication with staff, parents, and auditors. Working knowledge of Tally Prime or QuickBooks will speed up daily entries and reporting. Basic Excel skills for pivot tables and simple macros are essential.
Learning and Development
