Job Description
The role involves providing professional counselling and mental‑health support to students across all grades. Responsibilities include conducting individual and group counselling sessions, assessing emotional and behavioural issues, and developing intervention plans in collaboration with teachers and parents. The counsellor will maintain confidential case records, monitor progress, and refer students to external specialists when required. Participation in staff meetings, contribution to the school’s well‑being policies, and organization of awareness programmes on topics such as stress management, bullying, and coping skills are also expected.
Key duties
- Conduct intake interviews and psychological assessments for students presenting academic, social or emotional concerns.
- Design and deliver age‑appropriate counselling interventions, including crisis management and follow‑up support.
- Liaise with teachers to integrate coping strategies into classroom activities and to identify at‑risk students.
- Provide guidance to parents on supporting their children’s mental health at home.
- Prepare regular reports on counselling outcomes while ensuring compliance with confidentiality standards.
- Coordinate with external mental‑health professionals for referrals and collaborative care.
Required qualifications and experience
- Post‑graduate degree in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology or a related field.
- Minimum two years of professional experience in school counselling, child and adolescent mental health, or a comparable setting.
Employment details
- Full‑time position based in Chainpur, Palamu, Jharkhand (Tier‑4 location).
- Salary range: Rs. 20,000 – Rs. 30,000 per month, payable as per school policy.
