About Sgd Modern School | Dhanbad

Nestled beside the Grand Trunk Road in Chirkunda, just a short walk from Kumardhubi Railway Station, SGD Modern School serves families from Nirsa and the surrounding pockets of Dhanbad, Jharkhand (828202). Most of the children who come here are from the mining and small‑business community that has grown up around the Bengal‑Jharkhand junction, and the school has become a familiar part of their daily routine.

Since its founding in 1993, the school has kept its focus on steady, practical learning. The classrooms are English‑medium, and the teachers tend to know each student by name, which makes the transition from kindergarten to senior secondary feel less like a series of exams and more like a continuous conversation. Being affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) up to class 12 (Affiliation No. 3430134) means the curriculum is aligned with national standards while still leaving room for the kind of hands‑on projects that the local community values.

One of the things that sets SGD Modern apart is its early introduction of computer skills – every child starts learning basic computing from class III, which was unusual for this area when the school began. The science labs for physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics are well‑maintained, and there are two computer labs that support both regular lessons and extra‑curricular clubs. A modest library with an audio‑visual room offers a quiet place for reading and for watching educational films, giving students a chance to explore topics beyond the textbook.

Overall, the school feels like a small town centre where parents, teachers and students all know each other. The emphasis on consistent teaching, solid facilities and a curriculum that balances board requirements with practical skills makes it a comfortable place for both learning and teaching.
