About Gautam Budha International School | Puri

When I first stepped onto the campus of Gautam Budha International School in Dandipur, Balanga, the air carried a mix of sea breeze from nearby Puri and the quiet hum of a place that was already buzzing with activity. The school’s red‑brick buildings stood against a backdrop of palm‑shaded fields, and the signboard proudly displayed the CBSE affiliation number 1530293. As a newcomer in lower kindergarten, I felt a little nervous, but the warm greeting from the teachers and the sight of older students playing on the wide playground eased the anxiety. The boarding house, though new to me, quickly became a second home where I learned to manage my time and share space with peers from different corners of Odisha.

The classrooms at GBIS are bright and airy, with large windows that let in natural light, and each one is equipped with smart boards that turn a simple lesson into an interactive experience. My teachers, most of whom had studied at reputable universities, never hesitated to explain a concept again if I missed it the first time. They encouraged questions, and the habit of asking “why” became a daily ritual. As I moved up to primary and then middle school, the subjects grew more demanding, but the school’s modern curriculum kept everything relevant. Science labs, stocked with microscopes and chemicals, turned textbook diagrams into hands‑on experiments. In the library, rows of neatly arranged books waited for me to explore stories beyond the syllabus, and the computer lab, with its up‑to‑date software, gave me a taste of coding long before it became a buzzword in the wider community.

By the time I reached senior secondary, the school’s influence was evident in the way I approached problems. The emphasis on a supportive environment meant that teachers knew not just my academic strengths but also the areas where I needed encouragement. When I prepared for the CBSE board exams, the teachers organized revision sessions that felt more like collaborative workshops than rote drills. The sports field, where I had once learned to play cricket with friends, also hosted inter‑school tournaments that brought together students from nearby towns, highlighting GBIS’s role as a hub for both academic and extracurricular excellence in the Puri district.

Looking back, Gautam Budha International School has been more than a place of study; it has been a community that helped
