Evs (PRT) Vacancy in Gangtok, Sikkim
Delhi Public School
Job Description
What It Is Like Here
Delhi Public School Gangtok blends the warmth of Sikkim’s hill culture with the rigour of a national curriculum. Teachers here work in close-knit teams, sharing lesson plans over cups of Kangra tea in the staff room and stepping out for quick walks to the nearby Deorali Market when the Himalayan light softens in the afternoon. The campus hums with student projects on local ecology and cultural heritage, making every Evs class a blend of textbook knowledge and lived experience.
Role Summary
The PRT Evs Teacher will anchor environmental science lessons for grades 1 to 5 at Delhi Public School Gangtok. You will translate textbook concepts into hands-on learning experiences that connect Gangtok’s pine forests, rivers, and seasonal festivals to the Evs syllabus. The role demands creativity, patience, and a readiness to step out of the classroom for nature walks or community projects.
What You Will Do
Plan weekly Evs lessons aligned to NCERT and CBSE frameworks, ensuring clear learning outcomes for young learners.
Design low-cost experiments using local materials—pine cones for seed dispersal, plastic waste from M.G. Marg for recycling projects.
Organize outdoor sessions on Gangtok’s Ridge Park or nearby clean-up drives, linking classroom theory to real-world action.
Create simple rubrics to assess students’ understanding of environmental issues rather than rote memory.
Collaborate with the art and language teachers to integrate Evs themes into school festivals like Maghe Sankranti or World Environment Day.
Maintain a classroom resource corner stocked with seeds, soil samples, and recycled crafts made by students.
Attend weekly grade-level meetings to share student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed.
Participate in school events such as parent-teacher meets, where you explain Evs concepts through student portfolios.
Eligibility Criteria
Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university.
Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) with specialization in science or social studies.
Minimum three years of classroom teaching experience in primary grades.
Familiarity with NCERT Evs textbooks and CBSE assessment patterns preferred.
TET or CTET certification is not mandatory but will be an added advantage.
What You Get
Rs.20,000 – Rs.40,000 per month, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
School holidays aligned with Sikkim government calendar and CBSE breaks.
In-house professional development sessions on inquiry-based learning and local pedagogy.
Access to a modest classroom resource budget for Evs materials.
Cafeteria meals and tea at subsidized rates during school hours.
