Psychological Counsellor Job in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu | School Vacancy
The role of Psychological Counsellor at Cs Academy | Coimbatore, located in Coimbatore North, involves providing professional mental health support to students, staff and parents. The counsellor will work closely with the school leadership to foster a safe and nurturing environment that promotes emotional well‑being and academic success.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group counselling sessions for students across all grades, addressing issues such as anxiety, stress, bullying, grief and academic pressure.
- Perform regular mental health screenings and maintain confidential case records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Design and deliver age‑appropriate workshops on topics like resilience, coping strategies, self‑esteem and social skills for students and parents.
- Collaborate with class teachers, school counsellors and the principal to identify at‑risk students and develop intervention plans.
- Provide crisis intervention and immediate support during emergencies, coordinating with external mental health professionals when required.
- Lead the development of a comprehensive school counselling policy, including referral pathways, follow‑up procedures and evaluation metrics.
- Organise awareness programmes and seminars for parents and staff to enhance understanding of mental health issues and promote a supportive community.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, contributing psychological insights to student welfare decisions and academic accommodations.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Graduate degree in Psychology, Counselling Psychology or a related field recognized by Indian authorities.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience delivering counselling services in a school or similar youth‑focused setting.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build trust with students, parents and school staff.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development, as well as contemporary counselling techniques and therapeutic modalities.
Salary and Benefits
- Competitive monthly remuneration ranging from Rs.20,000 to Rs.35,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
