POSITION TYPE: Part-time Regular Teacher (PRT)
REPORTS TO: Principal and Academic Coordinator
WORK LOCATION: Tier 4 School Campus
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Fixed-term contract for the academic year with renewal option
CONTRACT DURATION: Ten (10) months, August to May
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality dance instruction aligned with national arts education standards and school curriculum.
2. Teach foundational and advanced dance techniques across multiple genres (e.g., classical, contemporary, folk, hip-hop) to students aged 6–18.
3. Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that integrate technique, creativity, cultural context, and physical wellness.
4. Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including rubrics, performances, and written feedback.
5. Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, assessment scores, and behavioral observations in compliance with school data protection policies.
6. Collaborate with the arts department to plan school-wide performances, assemblies, and inter-school competitions.
7. Organize and supervise extracurricular dance clubs, rehearsals, and community outreach performances.
8. Ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment free from discrimination, harassment, or corporal punishment.
9. Adhere to all school policies regarding child safeguarding, health, safety, and emergency procedures.
10. Participate in mandatory professional development, staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and annual appraisals.
11. Represent the school at cultural events, parent orientations, and inter-school forums as assigned.
12. Uphold the school’s mission of holistic education by integrating values of discipline, creativity, and social responsibility in dance pedagogy.
Work Environment (Detailed with Legal Language)
The PRT Dance Teacher will work in a school setting governed by the Right to Education Act, 2009, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. The teacher is expected to maintain a professional, child-centered environment that complies with the National Policy on Safety of Children in Schools, 2017. The workplace includes indoor dance studios equipped with sprung floors, mirrors, barres, sound systems, and storage for costumes and props. The teacher may be required to work in outdoor spaces during festivals or community events, subject to weather and safety protocols.
The teacher must comply with the school’s Code of Conduct, Anti-Bullying Policy, and Health and Safety at Work Policy. The teacher is responsible for ensuring that all physical activity complies with the National Accreditation Board for Education and Training (NABET) safety standards for dance instruction. The teacher must report any suspected child abuse, neglect, or misconduct immediately to the Child Protection Officer in accordance with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Performance Expectations (Minimum and Preferred)
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate degree in Dance, Performing Arts, or related field from a recognized university.
- Minimum one (1) year of full-time teaching or professional dance instruction experience with children aged 6–18.
- Valid government-issued identification and clearance certificate under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
- Ability to teach at least two dance forms fluently (e.g., Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, contemporary, hip-hop).
- Proficiency in spoken and written English; working knowledge of regional language preferred.
- Physical fitness to demonstrate and teach dance techniques for extended periods.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for rehearsals and performances.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postgraduate degree in Dance or Fine Arts.
- Certification in Yoga, Aerobics, or Movement Therapy.
- Previous experience in curriculum development or arts integration projects.
- Participation in national or international dance festivals or competitions.
- Knowledge of inclusive teaching practices for students with disabilities.
Performance Expectations (Evaluation Criteria)
Annual performance will be evaluated based on the following criteria, weighted as indicated:

Salary and Compensation (Breakdown)
Gross Annual Salary: ₹3,60,000
Breakdown:
- Basic Salary: ₹2,40,000 (66.67%)
- House Rent Allowance (HRA): ₹72,000 (20%) – subject to submission of rent receipts
- Medical Allowance: ₹12,000 (3.33%) – reimbursable against actual expenses
- Professional Development Allowance: ₹12,000 (3.33%) – for workshops and certifications
- Conveyance Allowance: ₹12,000 (3.33%) – reimbursable up to ₹1,000 per month
- Performance Bonus: ₹12,000 (3.33%) – payable upon satisfactory annual evaluation
Deductions:
- Provident Fund (PF): 12% of basic salary (employer and employee contribution)
- Income Tax: As per applicable slab and TDS provisions

Work Environment
The teacher will work on campus in designated dance studios, common areas, and outdoor venues during approved events. The school operates from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekdays, with flexibility required for rehearsals until 6:00 PM on performance days. Weekend work is occasional and compensated as overtime or compensated time off.
