Position Overview
The Post Graduate Teacher (PRT) in Music shall be responsible for delivering high-quality music education to students from Grades I to V in a premium rural educational institution. The incumbent shall develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum aligned with national and international standards, fostering artistic expression, cultural appreciation, and musical literacy. The role requires adherence to statutory educational regulations, contractual obligations, and the school’s code of conduct.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Curriculum Development and Instruction
a. Design, adapt, and deliver a sequential music curriculum for Grades I–V that integrates vocal, instrumental, and theoretical components.
b. Plan daily, weekly, and term-wise lesson plans in accordance with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) and school academic calendar.
c. Integrate music with other subjects (e.g., history, culture, science) to promote interdisciplinary learning.
d. Teach foundational music theory, notation, rhythm, melody, harmony, and basic composition skills.
e. Introduce students to diverse musical traditions, including Indian classical, folk, Western, and contemporary genres.
f. Conduct regular listening, analysis, and performance-based activities to develop critical listening and interpretive skills.
2. Performance and Ensemble Leadership
a. Organize and direct school choirs, instrumental ensembles, and vocal groups for performances at school events, festivals, and inter-school competitions.
b. Arrange annual school concerts, cultural fairs, and public recitals to showcase student talent and foster community engagement.
c. Select repertoire appropriate to student skill levels and cultural relevance.
d. Provide individual and group coaching to prepare students for examinations, auditions, and public performances.
e. Maintain records of student progress, attendance, and participation in music activities.
3. Assessment and Evaluation
a. Develop and administer formative and summative assessments in alignment with learning objectives.
b. Evaluate student performance through practical examinations, written tests, project work, and recitals.
c. Provide constructive feedback to students and parents on progress and areas for improvement.
d. Maintain accurate records of student assessments and submit reports to the Head of Department and Principal on a quarterly basis.
4. Classroom Management and Safety
a. Ensure a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment conducive to musical exploration.
b. Maintain discipline and decorum during music classes, rehearsals, and performances.
c. Adhere to all safety protocols when handling musical instruments and audio-visual equipment.
d. Ensure instruments, sheet music, and digital resources are properly stored and maintained.
5. Professional Development and Collaboration
a. Participate in mandatory in-service training, workshops, and faculty meetings.
b. Engage in continuous professional development through attendance at music education conferences and online courses.
c. Collaborate with other subject teachers to integrate music into school-wide initiatives (e.g., theme days, assemblies).
d. Contribute to school policy development related to arts education and extracurricular programs.
e. Mentor junior staff and student teachers as assigned.
6. Community and Parent Engagement
a. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, upcoming performances, and music program updates.
b. Organize parent participation events such as family music nights or cultural showcases.
c. Represent the school at local and regional cultural events to promote the music program.
Performance Expectations
1. Academic Excellence
The PRT Music Teacher shall demonstrate a measurable impact on student learning outcomes, as evidenced by:
a. At least 80% of students achieving “Proficient” or “Advanced” levels in annual music assessments.
b. Consistent improvement in student participation rates in music ensembles and performances.
c. Positive feedback from students, parents, and peers regarding teaching effectiveness and classroom environment.
2. Pedagogical Competence
The incumbent shall:
a. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction, project-based learning, and technology integration.
b. Employ formative assessment techniques to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
c. Maintain high standards of lesson planning, classroom organization, and resource utilization.
3. Professional Conduct
The teacher shall:
a. Adhere to the school’s code of ethics, including punctuality, confidentiality, and respect for diversity.
b. Comply with all statutory requirements under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009, and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
c. Avoid conflicts of interest and maintain impartiality in all professional dealings.
4. Cultural and Ethical Responsibility
The incumbent shall:
a. Promote values of empathy, creativity, and cultural sensitivity through music education.
b. Foster an inclusive environment that respects all forms of musical expression and student backgrounds.

5. Compliance and Reporting
The teacher shall:
a. Submit monthly reports on lesson plans, attendance, assessments, and extracurricular activities to the Head of Department.
b. Ensure all teaching materials, including sheet music and recordings, comply with copyright laws.
c. Maintain accurate attendance registers and financial records for music-related expenditures.
Campus Facilities
Minimum Requirements:
a. Dedicated music classroom with acoustic treatment and sound insulation.
b. Basic sound system with amplifier, speakers, and microphones.
c. Storage space for instruments and sheet music.
d. Access to a computer with internet and music software (e.g., MuseScore, GarageBand).
e. Piano or keyboard, basic percussion instruments (e.g., tabla, dholak, xylophone), and a set of recorders.
Preferred Requirements:
a. Soundproof rehearsal room for ensemble practice.
b. Digital audio workstation (DAW) for composition and recording.
c. Variety of tuned and untuned percussion instruments.

Salary and Compensation
1. Base Salary:
a. Entry-level PRT Music Teacher: ₹3,50,000 per annum.
2. Allowances:
a. House Rent Allowance (HRA): 24% of base salary (subject to actual rent submission).
b. Travel Allowance: ₹15,000 per annum for official travel.
c. Professional Development Allowance: ₹10,000 per annum for workshops, books, or certifications.
d. Conveyance Allowance: ₹12,000 per annum for local commuting.
3. Benefits:
a. Annual performance bonus: Up to 10% of base salary, subject to evaluation.
b. Provident Fund (PF): 12% contribution from employer and employee.
c. Group Medical Insurance: Coverage for self and dependents, including hospitalization and critical illness.
d. Paid Leave:
