Permanent Recognised Teacher (PRT) – Tamil Language

Position Overview
The Permanent Recognised Teacher (PRT) in Tamil Language is a full-time, permanent teaching position at [School Name], a co-educational, English-medium institution located in a Tier-4 city. Your Responsibilities

1. Curriculum Delivery
Design, plan, and execute lesson plans aligned with the Tamil Nadu State Curriculum Framework and NCERT guidelines for Grades 1–5, ensuring coverage of listening, speaking, reading, and writing (LSRW) competencies.
Adhere to the annual academic calendar, weekly timetable, and daily period allocations as prescribed by the school.
Prepare unit-wise and year-end lesson plans in accordance with the school’s lesson-planning template, to be submitted for approval by the Head of Department (HoD) at least five working days prior to the commencement of each term.
Integrate co-curricular elements such as storytelling, poetry recitation, and cultural festivals (e.g., Pongal, Thai Poosam) into the formal curriculum to enhance engagement and cultural literacy.
Maintain a register of lesson plans, attendance, and assessment records in both physical and digital formats as mandated by the Directorate of School Education, Tamil Nadu.

2. Assessment and Evaluation
Conduct formative assessments (weekly quizzes, oral drills, written exercises) and summative assessments (term-end examinations) in strict accordance with the assessment calendar issued by the school.
Administer standardised Tamil language assessments, including listening comprehension tests and written compositions, and ensure timely submission of marks to the Examination Cell.
Provide constructive written and oral feedback to students and maintain a record of individual progress in the school’s Student Progress Monitoring System (SPMS).
Participate in moderation meetings chaired by the HoD to ensure consistency in grading and evaluation standards across sections.

3. Classroom Management and Student Welfare
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to language acquisition, in compliance with the school’s Safeguarding Policy and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
Implement positive behaviour management strategies, including the use of non-punitive language and restorative practices, in accordance with the school’s Behaviour Policy.
Monitor student attendance daily and submit absentee reports to the Attendance Officer within 24 hours of any unexplained absence, in line with the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009.
Collaborate with the school counsellor to identify students with language-learning difficulties and implement Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) where necessary.

4. Professional Development and Compliance
Undertake mandatory professional development activities, including in-service training programmes conducted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
Maintain an updated Professional Development Portfolio (PDP) containing certificates of participation, self-reflection notes, and peer observation feedback, to be reviewed annually by the Principal.
Comply with all statutory requirements, including the submission of Form 1 (for recognition under RTE) and quarterly reports on teaching-learning outcomes to the District Education Officer.
Ensure the use of government-approved textbooks and supplementary readers issued by the Tamil Nadu Textbook Corporation; any deviation must be pre-approved in writing by the HoD.

5. School and Community Engagement
Represent the school at local Tamil language festivals, inter-school competitions, and parent-teacher meetings, maintaining decorum and professionalism at all times.
Contribute to the annual school magazine and Tamil language blog by writing articles, short stories, or poems that showcase student work and cultural events.
Engage with parents through bi-monthly progress reports and open-house sessions, explaining assessment outcomes and suggesting home-based reinforcement activities.
Participate in the school’s annual planning retreat and contribute to the development of the School Improvement Plan (SIP) for the Languages Department.

At least 85% of students achieving grade-level competency in reading and writing by the end of Grade 5, as per the school’s benchmarking framework.

2. Lesson Planning and Delivery (20%)
Timely submission of lesson plans that are coherent, differentiated, and aligned with curriculum standards.
Use of varied pedagogical strategies (storytelling, role-play, phonics-based instruction) to cater to diverse learning styles.

3. Classroom Management (15%)
Compliance with the school’s behaviour policy and a documented reduction in classroom disruptions over the academic year.
Maintenance of clean, resource-rich classrooms with age-appropriate Tamil language displays.

4. Professional Conduct (15%)

Salary and Compensation

The position is classified as Permanent Recognised Teacher (PRT) under the State Board’s pay scale for teachers in Tier-4 cities. The remuneration package is structured as follows:

Basic Salary: Rs. 30,000 per month
Dearness Allowance (DA): 12% of Basic (Rs. 3,600)
