PRT Tamil Teacher – Rural School Position

Role Summary
The PRT Tamil Teacher will deliver foundational Tamil language instruction to Grades 1-5 in a rural school setting. The teacher will design age-appropriate lessons that build listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while integrating local cultural themes. Emphasis is placed on interactive, low-resource teaching methods that engage students in a predominantly non-Tamil-speaking community.

Responsibilities
Teach daily Tamil language classes to grades 1–5 using storytelling, songs, and visual aids suited to rural contexts.
Develop lesson plans aligned with local curriculum standards and the National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage.
Assess student progress through informal observations, oral quizzes, and simple written tasks; maintain anecdotal records.
Collaborate with the school leadership to integrate Tamil culture and local folklore into school assemblies and community events.
Prepare teaching aids from locally available materials such as flashcards made from recycled paper, picture charts, and realia.
Conduct parent-teacher meetings in Tamil and local dialect to enhance community engagement and support student learning at home.
Maintain classroom discipline and create a safe, inclusive learning environment that respects rural socio-economic backgrounds.
