About City International School Juniors

When I first sent my little one to City International School Juniors in Lakhimpur, I was a bit nervous about how a school so close to home could keep up with the standards we hear about in bigger cities. The moment we walked through the gates on the campus near the Railway Station Road, the atmosphere felt familiar and welcoming, like a community centre where everyone knows each other. The classrooms are bright, the walls are dotted with student work, and there’s a small garden where the kids can step out for a breath of fresh air during breaks. It’s the kind of place where you can imagine your child growing up while still feeling safe and supported.

Academically, the school focuses on a solid foundation in the core subjects—English, Hindi, maths, and science—while also giving space for curiosity-driven projects. They follow the UPMSP curriculum, but they don’t just stick to the textbook. I’ve seen my son work on simple experiments in the science lab and then discuss his findings with the class, and the teachers always encourage questions instead of just giving answers. The homework load is reasonable; it’s enough to keep the kids sharp without stealing all their playtime. They also have a weekly reading hour that has turned my son into a little bookworm, something I never expected from a junior school.

The teachers are the real heart of the place. Most of them have been trained at reputable teacher colleges and many have spent a few years teaching in other towns before joining City International. They know how to manage a room of energetic youngsters without being authoritarian, and they make a point of learning each child’s name and something personal about them. My daughter’s class teacher even remembers that she loves drawing dinosaurs and uses that fact to make math problems more engaging. The staff turnover is low, which tells you a lot about how they’re treated and how much they care about the community they serve.

Families trust the school because it feels like an extended family. Parents are invited to the school’s monthly gatherings, where we can see what’s happening in the classrooms and share ideas. The administration is transparent about fees and policies, and they’re quick to address any concerns. Over the years, I’ve watched many of my friends’ children move on to good
