Job Description

Role Summary
We are seeking a forward-thinking Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) in Physical Education for our technology-forward school in Tier 3. The ideal candidate will blend traditional physical education principles with modern EdTech tools to create an engaging, data-driven, and inclusive learning environment. You will leverage digital platforms, wearable tech, and interactive resources to enhance student motivation, skill development, and overall fitness outcomes.

Your Responsibilities (Specific Software/Tools)
- Design and deliver PE lessons using digital tools such as Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, or Edmodo for assignment distribution, progress tracking, and parent communication.
- Integrate fitness tracking apps (e.g., Strava, Fitbit, MyFitnessPal) and heart rate monitors to collect real-time student performance data.
- Utilize video analysis software (e.g., Dartfish, Hudl Technique) to break down sports techniques and provide personalized feedback.
- Create interactive PE content using platforms like Kahoot!, Quizizz, or Nearpod to assess theoretical knowledge (e.g., rules, health benefits) and gamify learning.
- Develop and maintain a digital portfolio for each student using Google Sites or Seesaw to document progress, goals, and achievements.
- Collaborate with IT and admin teams to troubleshoot tech issues and ensure seamless integration of EdTech tools in PE classes.
- Conduct virtual PE sessions or hybrid classes using Zoom, Google Meet, or Cisco Webex when required.
- Use learning management systems (LMS) like Moodle or Canvas to upload lesson plans, supplementary resources, and assessment rubrics.

KPIs and Outcomes
- Student engagement: Achieve 90% participation rate in PE activities and digital assignments.
- Fitness improvement: Demonstrate measurable progress in students' cardiovascular endurance, strength, and flexibility through data from fitness apps.
- Skill development: Use video analysis tools to show 20% improvement in technique proficiency across sports units.
- Digital literacy: Ensure 100% of students are proficient in using at least one EdTech tool for tracking or analyzing their fitness data.
- Parent involvement: Maintain 85% parent engagement in digital communication platforms (e.g., Google Classroom updates, Seesaw posts).
- Assessment: Reduce grading time by 30% by using digital rubrics and automated feedback tools.
- Innovation: Introduce at least two new EdTech tools or platforms per academic year to enhance the PE curriculum.

Teaching Methodology (Digital Tools and Platforms)
- Flipped Classroom Approach: Assign pre-recorded lectures or demonstrations via YouTube or Loom for students to review before in-person PE sessions. This allows for more hands-on practice during class time.
- Blended Learning: Combine traditional PE drills with digital simulations (e.g., virtual sports games on platforms like BBC Sport’s Bitesize or PE Games) to reinforce concepts.
- Gamification: Use platforms like Classcraft or SuperTeacherTools to create game-based learning experiences where students earn points for physical activity, skill mastery, and digital participation.
- Personalized Learning: Implement adaptive learning tools (e.g., PE Central’s activity finder) to tailor exercises based on individual fitness levels and interests.
- Data-Driven Instruction: Analyze fitness data from apps and wearables to customize lesson plans and interventions for students needing additional support or advanced challenges.

Instruction Approach (Tech Implementation)
- Differentiated Instruction: Use digital platforms to create tiered assignments (e.g., beginner, intermediate, advanced) for activities like yoga, calisthenics, or sports drills. Tools like Google Forms can help assess prior knowledge and place students accordingly.
- Collaborative Learning: Foster teamwork through digital group projects, such as designing a class fitness challenge using Canva or Adobe Spark, or creating a PE-themed podcast using Anchor.fm.
- Real-World Connections: Integrate guest lectures or virtual field trips via Zoom, where students can interact with athletes, coaches, or fitness experts. Use Google Earth to explore sports facilities worldwide.
- Formative Assessment: Employ tools like Socrative or Mentimeter for quick quizzes or polls during class to gauge understanding of rules, health concepts, or safety procedures.
- Feedback and Reflection: Utilize digital journals (e.g., Google Docs, Evernote) where students reflect on their progress, challenges, and goals after each unit. Provide audio or video feedback using tools like Vocaroo or Flipgrid.

What We Offer
- A collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages experimentation with EdTech tools.
- Access to a robust tech infrastructure, including smartboards, tablets, and high-speed internet in all classrooms.
- Professional development opportunities focused on integrating technology in PE, including workshops on gamification, data analysis, and digital citizenship.
- A supportive admin team that values your ideas and provides resources to implement them.
- Competitive salary and benefits package, with additional stipends for leadership roles in EdTech initiatives.
- Opportunities to lead or participate in school-wide tech integration projects, such as developing a digital PE curriculum or piloting new fitness tracking tools.
- A culture that prioritizes work-life balance, with flexible planning periods to explore and create digital content.

Facilities (Tech Infrastructure)
- Smart classrooms equipped with interactive whiteboards, projectors, and sound systems for multimedia presentations.
- A dedicated computer lab or tablet carts for student use during PE theory sessions or digital assignments.
- High-speed Wi-Fi throughout the campus, including outdoor areas for fitness tracking and data collection.
- A well-stocked library with digital resources, including e-books, online journals, and educational apps for PE.
- Access to a school-wide LMS (Learning Management System) for seamless integration of digital tools.
- Wearable tech (e.g., fitness bands, heart rate monitors) and sports equipment with digital interfaces (e.g., smart basketballs, connected jump ropes).
- A makerspace or innovation lab where students can design and prototype PE-related tech projects, such as fitness apps or wearable devices.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field. Postgraduate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a school setting.
- Familiarity with fitness tracking apps, video analysis tools, and digital assessment platforms.
- Experience with LMS platforms (e.g., Moodle, Canvas) and collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
- Knowledge of digital safety, privacy, and responsible use of technology in education.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with IT staff, administrators, and parents.
- Passion for integrating technology to enhance physical education and student engagement.
