Music (PRT) Vacancy in Angul, Odisha
Saraswati Vidya Vihar
Job Description
About This Role
Saraswati Vidya Vihar, Angul is looking for a PRT Music Teacher to shape the musical foundation of students from Classes 1 to 5. In a student community that values melody and rhythm, the teacher will introduce classical, folk, and light music in a way that feels familiar and fun. The school encourages creative expression through school events, morning assemblies, and classroom activities.
Your Students
Children in Angul grow up listening to Odissi folk tunes and seasonal songs. Your classroom will be a mix of curious beginners and some who already hum familiar tunes. You will build confidence by letting students sing, clap, and play simple instruments together. Parent expectations are high for cultural exposure, so regular practice and performances matter.
What You Will Do
Plan weekly music lessons that include singing, rhythm exercises, and instrument basics like harmonium and tabla. Prepare students for school events by rehearsing group songs and short performances at least once a month. Use worksheets with pictures of swaras and taal patterns to help visual learners grasp concepts faster. Organize small group activities where students compose simple tunes using familiar ragas.
Encourage students to listen and identify instruments in recorded music during classroom listening sessions. Create a ‘Music Corner’ in your classroom with flashcards, small instruments, and songbooks for free access during breaks. Communicate progress to parents through notebook notes and informal meetings after school hours.
Who Can Apply
Graduates in Music with a minimum of two years of teaching experience in primary classes are eligible. B.Ed or D.El.Ed is preferred but not mandatory. Familiarity with Odissi or local folk music will be an advantage. Fluency in Odia and English helps during explanations and parent interactions.
What Makes You a Fit
You enjoy making music simple and enjoyable rather than teaching only theory. Experience in organizing small school concerts or inter-house music competitions adds value. Patience with young learners and willingness to repeat lessons in different ways is essential. You believe music is a daily practice, not just an event.
What You Get
A full-time position at Saraswati Vidya Vihar, Angul. Salary ranges from Rs.15,000 to Rs.30,000 per month based on experience and qualifications. School provides instruments for classroom use and covers travel costs for off-site music events. Professional development support is available through local workshops and teacher exchange programs.
