About Utkal Gaurav International School

When my son started at Utkal Gaurav International School last year, the first thing that struck me was how quickly the campus felt like a part of the village itself. The school opened its doors in March 2023 with the Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, cutting the ribbon, and since then it has become a familiar sight in Berunapadi, Soso, Hatadihi, Keonjhar. It follows the CBSE syllabus, but you’ll notice that the lessons are never just textbook drills. The teachers weave the National Education Policy’s emphasis on hands‑on projects into everyday work, so the children spend time solving real problems, preparing for Olympiads, and even trying their hand at archery or yoga between math periods. The music and art sessions are more than an after‑school club; they’re built into the timetable, which gives the kids a chance to explore creativity without feeling rushed.

The people who teach there are a mix of people you’d expect from a city school and some who have grown up in the region. Most of the faculty hold postgraduate degrees and have gone through regular CBSE training, but many also bring a background in yoga, classical music, or sports coaching. Mr. Milan Banerjee, the principal, makes it a point to know each teacher personally and to match them with subjects they’re passionate about.
