Music (PRT) Vacancy in Keonjhar Sadar, Kendujhar, Odisha
Balvatika Bhubanananda Public School
Job Description
Our students in Kendujhar are curious, energetic, and eager to explore music beyond textbooks. They need a teacher who can make ragas come alive, guide their first tabla beats, and help them discover rhythm through folk tunes from Odisha. A PRT Music Teacher in Kendujhar, Odisha will play a key role in shaping their creative confidence and musical foundation.
You will introduce young learners to the basics of Indian classical and light music, helping them understand swara, tala, and sur. You will organize small group singing sessions where shy students find their voice and confident ones learn harmony. Preparing students for school functions, cultural events, and local festivals like Rath Yatra will be part of your daily rhythm. You will also create simple music-based learning aids to support other subjects—like using patriotic songs to teach history or devotional chants to explain values.
Daily duties include conducting structured music classes for classes 1 to 5, teaching vocal and instrumental basics, and maintaining instruments like harmoniums and tablas. You will plan weekly practice schedules, prepare students for school choir and solo performances, and document progress through simple observation notes. Organizing inter-house music competitions and coordinating with art teachers for thematic performances will be expected. You will also assist in decorating the school auditorium for cultural events and manage a small music resource corner.
Candidates should be graduates with a B.Ed or D.El.Ed and at least two years of teaching experience. While TET/CTET is not mandatory, prior experience in school music teaching is essential. Familiarity with Odia folk music and experience working with young children in Kendujhar will be an advantage.
