Manchester International School in Coimbatore North seeks a dedicated Psychological Counsellor to support the holistic well-being of students. This role focuses on implementing structured mental health programs, assessing emotional and behavioral needs, and collaborating closely with school leadership to ensure a supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design and oversee school-based mental health initiatives, including workshops and counseling sessions tailored to students’ developmental stages. Work with teachers and administrative staff to identify signs of stress, anxiety, or other emotional challenges among students, ensuring timely intervention.
Develop and maintain confidential records of counseling sessions, adhering to ethical guidelines and legal requirements. Provide guidance to parents and guardians on coping strategies and resources for their children’s mental health.
Support the school’s crisis management plan by training staff on recognizing and responding to emotional distress. Act as a liaison between students, parents, and external mental health professionals when needed, ensuring seamless transitions in care.
Supporting Leadership and Operations
Assist in creating policies and procedures for student counseling, ensuring consistency and alignment with school values. Participate in team meetings to discuss student progress and adjust support strategies as required.
Collaborate with the school’s administrative team to integrate mental health awareness into daily operations, fostering a culture of empathy and resilience. Contribute to the school’s growth by sharing best practices in student well-being within the broader educational community.
Qualifications and Requirements
A graduate degree with at least three years of relevant experience in psychological counseling or related fields. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with students, parents, and staff are essential. Familiarity with school-based mental health frameworks and a commitment to ethical practice are mandatory.
